I have usually used a Canon 100-400L lens for baseball, or a Sony 70-400G lens if shooting with my Sonys. Under the lights I usually shoot either a Sigma 120-300/2.8 HSM OS or a Canon 300/4 L. The Sigma 150-600C, though, is giving me results that equal or better the 100-400L in these daylight shots. (1) Tamron 150-600 or (2) the Canon 70-200 2.8 II + Canon Extender EF 2X III. Obviously, buying the extender would be a lot cheaper and lighter than carrying around another heavy zoom. The Tamron would give me a little more reach, albeit the reviews say it's quite soft above 500mm. Still a little more reach vs. 400mm. Fully agree. I started last year with the Sigma 150-600 c, I even had the Sigma 1401 TC. Both performed pretty well, but the lens is big and heavy. I could handhold the combo, but was a pain. The lens performed better at 550 than 600. I finally moved to the RF 150-500 + RF 1.4 and the combo is amazing. Easily the best lens I have ever owned. Browse Canon Community. I am considering adding a 60-600 Sigma Sport, in Canon mount, after having handled one at a local demo day. I believe that I would rather use a 60-600mm Sport, than add my Extender 1.4x III to my EF 100-400L II IS. I love my EF 100-400L II IS, but believe that my Extender is a better partner for my EF 300/2.8L IS. Matty makes a good point regarding low light performance with your lens vs the slower Sigma 150-600. I also think the 1DX2 and 7D2 are a bit more robust when it comes to autofocus. On the 5D3 with 150-600 and a 1.4 converter I typically only got a center point for autofocus, and it could be slow and unreliable in bad light. The Sigma 150-600mm F5-6.3 DN OS | Sport is a very welcome addition to the Tamron 150-500mm F5-6.7 VC VXD , Sigma 100-400mm F5-6.3 OS DN, and the Sony FE 200-600mm F5.6-6.3 G OSS as quality telephoto zooms available all available at $2000 or less. The Sigma makes a very good case for itself on paper when compared to the Tamron, offering up that Totally agree. I have used both Sigma lenses on Sony camera via adapter and found 60-600 to have great sharpness but AF wasn't good enougJh for BIF so I'm hoping it will work better on R5. Assuming a lens works It basically comes down to cost v's IQ - the 150-600 is cheapest option the 60-600 is almost double at £1400 and the canon 100-500 Sigma 150 - 600 mm Sport lens for a Canon 7DII Cam - Page 2 - Canon Community. 08/18/2023: Canon EOS R5 C training series is released. 07/31/2023: New firmware updates are available. 05/31/2023: New firmware updates are available. 05/18/2023: New firmware updates are available. 03/30/2023: New firmware updates are available.
